Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2 May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies the DBL Films website uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences (such as login state, language choice, or consent decisions) over a period of time, so you do not have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back. The Site also uses similar technologies including local storage (a larger, longer-lived browser storage mechanism) and session storage (cleared when you close the tab).
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
We group cookies into four categories matching the standard ePrivacy framework. Only "Strictly Necessary" cookies are set without your active consent.
Strictly Necessary (always on)
Required for the Site to function. Without these, parts of the Site will not work.
cookie_consent(local storage) — records your choice from the cookie banner. Without it, we would have to show the banner on every page. Stored locally in your browser; never sent to our servers. Persists until you clear browser data.admin_session(HTTP cookie, HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict) — set only when an authenticated administrator logs in to the/adminbackend. Public visitors never receive this cookie. Persists for 24 hours.
Functional (off by default)
Remember preferences that improve usability but are not strictly necessary. Currently the Site does not set any functional cookies; this category is reserved for future use (for example, remembering Edit Bay layout preferences).
Analytics (off by default — loaded only with your consent)
Help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. Loaded only after you accept analytics cookies in the banner.
- Google Analytics 4 (
_ga,_ga_*) — provides aggregated, pseudonymised page-view, session, and engagement data. We enable IP anonymisation (anonymize_ip: true) and disable advertising features. Persists for up to 13 months.
Marketing (off by default)
The Site does not currently set any marketing or advertising cookies. This category is reserved for future use.
3. Third-Party Cookies via Embedded Video
Once you press Play on a video embedded from Vimeo or YouTube, the third-party iframe may set its own cookies under that platform's domain. The Studio does not control these cookies and cannot read them.
- Vimeo: we pass
dnt=1(Do Not Track) on every embed, which Vimeo respects by suppressing analytics and advertising cookies for that session. See Vimeo's cookie policy. - YouTube: the embed loads from the standard
www.youtube.comdomain, which may set cookies includingVISITOR_INFO1_LIVEandYSCfor video playback and analytics. See Google's cookies policy. If you have not accepted analytics cookies on this Site, you may still wish to manage YouTube's cookies separately via your Google account or browser settings.
4. Managing Your Choices
You have several ways to manage cookies and similar technologies:
- On this Site — click the Cookie preferences button in the footer at any time to revisit the consent banner and change your choices. Withdrawing analytics consent will unload Google Analytics within seconds (no page reload required).
- Browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies, set per-site rules, or run in a private / incognito window. Note that blocking strictly-necessary cookies may break parts of the Site.
- Do Not Track (DNT) — your browser may send a DNT header. We honour DNT for our own analytics by treating any DNT signal as a withdrawal of analytics consent.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC) — for California residents (and others on supporting browsers), GPC is treated as an opt-out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. The Studio does not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA.
5. Cookie Inventory at a Glance
The table below summarises every cookie or storage item the DBL Films Site itself sets (third-party platform cookies are listed in Section 3 above):

6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We will not start using new categories of cookies (e.g., marketing) without first giving you the opportunity to consent.
