Piet Jan Blauw – Quetzalcoatl

Piet Jan Blauw is a visual and sound artist creating sculptures and installations. Art & Technology. He started out performing with his objects and later they became instruments. His first performance was in 1973 and has traveled the globe performing and exhibiting his unique creations at festivals, galleries & other events. Since 2000 he has been focused on music performances.

The installation is called Quetzalcoatl, which comes from the Nahuatl language and means "feathered serpent". The installation wraps around him like a serpent. Throughout his travels in Latin America and working with Shamans and Aztec dancers he was inspired to create this unique installation.

He is controlling a 3 dimensional instrument sculpting soundscapes as he plays. This results is a pantheon of sounds that are ministered by samples, sequencers and processors. He drives his own compositions to their limits in every performance.
